Of fairly new construction, the garden of this town house was on two levels. The lower level was completely covered in tree canopy and even with the removal of some of the trees the result was an area of deep shade.

The building was constructed for use as a gym. Jane designed the extra outside space to include a covered seating area, boardwalk and jetty, cantilevered over the river.

The planting was luscious and capable of surviving the harsh conditions. The ground materials were limited to boulders and gravel, whilst the upper terrace has been kept very simple with a mix of slate and pebbles to link with the lower area.

The water feature is from Allison Armour.
